Product Review: VistaPrint Premium Business Cards

I ordered 250 Premium Business Cards (for $10) from Vistaprint the other day. Overall, I was not that impressed. The paper weight was good, but the rest was a bit, well, meh.

Quality

As you can see in the picture below, the quality is a bit, well, sad. A look from a distance looks beautiful, but when you look up close, the quality suffers immensely. Black is fine, but everything else looks grainy. However, the paper stock is decent, and if you're looking for a cheap print job, VistaPrint is for you. Also, the picture is a wee bit distorted.

Online Customization

The customization process at VistaPrint is pretty basic. In fact, I just made my design in Photoshop after learning how painful the design process is. They do have downloadable templates, though, which is quite nice.

Delivery

I chose their slowest delivery option, and the product took from April 19 to April 22 until they shipped it, which is a pretty quick turnaround time. Once they shipped it, it took until the 29th to get to my house. It was in nice packaging, with boxes of 250. The cards were packed very well and did not get a single scratch.

Color

In comparing the colors on the business card to the color of my original design, the printed card is a bit darker. That is typical of print, though. The color is fairly accurate; blue looks like blue, grey looks like grey, etc. There is, however, a bit of "fuzz" around the colored text.

Paper Weight

The paper these cards are printed on seems quite durable. I ordered the standard matte paper, and it is quite easy to write on with a pen and a pencil. It appears to be 110-lb paper stock or 14-pt cardstock. This is one great element of this print job.

Price

These were cheap, but I did use coupon codes. The pricing at other printers is better, though, and the other printing seems to be higher quality.

Value

Considering I used coupon codes, these cards seemed an OK value. However, other printers offer better products at better prices. These cards were not the greatest of value, especially when you have to pay full price for them.

Conclusion

If you're into the whole mediocre thing, order from Vistaprint. Otherwise, know that you can do much better, possibly for a better price.
